Anytime; I'm glad if I can help in any way. :) Though I'm a bit afraid that I may have muddied the waters a fair bit, instead...*fidgets worriedly*

I know what you mean. This time of year is so crazy and busy, it's a wonder anyone even has time to breathe!

Wow. I never thought about ash getting on stuff. I can't remember if we ever had a proper fireplace before coming here, and we don't use it, except for decorating. (Probably a good thing we don't, since we have shelves built into either side, and keep our DVD collections on it. Heat + DVDs... = Probably Bad Things.)

We just got back a little while ago from taking Mom's baking to where the sale's gonna be this weekend. Don't know if there's anything else that needs to be done, aside from putting my bedroom decorating boxes away, and decorating our back fence. (And Christmas shopping; gotta squeeze that in somewhere.) Mom is beyond relieved that the baking's taken care of. Ohhhh...just remembered. She's still going to have to bake for our property management office's Christmas party. But that's two weeks away, and I made up a lot of the cookie doughs for her, so hopefully there won't be much of a crush.

Thanks. It...didn't go as well as we'd hoped. She did okay yesterday, but practically nobody showed up today, so she sold hardly anything. Came home with most of her stuff, and we're both devastated. I score, in that I get to eat the truffles and these little wrapped Hershey Minis she dolled up--but that means I'm eating her profits, and that really upsets me. She says she's never making the truffles for a sale again; she wouldn't have this time, but the person who made up the flyers included them, and Mom couldn't very well bow out of that obligation.

Just now, she's on the phone with her brother, and seeing what he'd like to buy. So far, he's biting. Wants all three of whatever it is she has all three of (I don't know if that's her pies, or one of her breads).

*breathes* Note to self: Calm down. Freaking out won't exactly save the day.

Ohhhh, whew! He wants all three pies and all of the leftover cookies. Nearly $160!

*hugggggg* <3

It doesn't help that the people running the sale didn't put a sign up. They live in an out-of-the-way part of the neighborhood (which is a tricky neighborhood to get around, anyway). And the husband was supposed to put a sign out on the main road to get peoples' attention. And he only put it up just outside their driveway--and it was a small, computer-printed sign, that was hardly even visible. A lot of people showed up, telling Mom that they'd gotten lost before finding the place. I imagine some people probably went looking for the place, never found it, and gave up. Plus, a friend who said she'd come and buy apparently didn't realize that they'd be packing up early, and was off running errands down south. By the time she said she was on her way, it was too late.

But Mom was doing the math, and she actually made more this year than last, including the stuff she's taking for him to buy this morning--even without that, it still comes out to more. It's just that, proportionately speaking, it feels like less, as she's never taken so much stuff to any of her sales before. (Heh, guess I can eat the candy with a clear conscience now. She knew that at least the truffles weren't going to go to waste, given how much I enjoy 'em.)

No kidding! They might be useful for keeping our population going, but that seems to be about it. (Well, my grandfather was something special, though.)

A friend who was selling her latest novel was tempted to grab a piece of paper and just scribble one hastily, but I think it was too late by then.

Thanks. We're both beyond relieved! (And, OMG, the truffles are absolutely heavenly. One batch of chocolate-chip-cookie-dough, and another of mint/candy cane. Wow! And we have a recipe for mashed-potato ones that I'm very curious about.)
